December 15th, 2009Author: Mary Tomasi-DuboisMeredith and I had our second annual reading of “Douglas’ Big Christmas” this past Saturday. She thinks it is an “awesome” book, as do I, having lived on Frosty’s Tree Farm, 11 acres of Christmas trees off of Skyline Road, for six months during the height of the Christmas season in 2006. We used to walk the farm every day with my dog, Lillie. I really do miss the tree farm and may just take my dog up there for old times sake. Thanks to your book, I have an entire new perspective from the tree’s point of view!
Merry Christmas!
Love, Lynnie
Problem solved by a sweet story with big messages.
I decided to loan our copy of ‘Douglas’ Big Christmas’ to my son’s class when he came home telling me he didn’t want us to get a real tree for Christmas this year. When I asked him why, he said his teacher told him it wasn’t nice to have a real Christmas tree because cutting down the trees kills them. I said, let’s see if that’s true; let’s read the Christmas book we just bought. After we read it together, William was very happy and excited to share this little story with his classmates. By the way, so was his teacher.
Thank you for a wonderful little tale that is sure to become a family favorite for the holidays.
